A Vontade Denim
Founded in 2003 by designer Kazuyuki Yamakawa, A Vontade is run from Tokyo under Drive on Track Co., Ltd., with production kept in Japan. The label reworks vintage American and European military, workwear, and dress designs into simplified, modern cuts. Its 5 Pocket jeans use the brand’s own 13.5oz selvedge denim, woven on a shuttle loom from a Zimbabwe long-staple cotton warp and a natural brown cotton weft. Some versions are faded by hand to suggest about a year of wear, using a glucose-based bleaching process.
