Edwin Denim

Edwin began in Tokyo in 1947 as the Tsunemi Yonehachi shop, wholesaling US military surplus clothing and importing American jeans into postwar Japan, before producing its own Japanese-made jeans around 1960. Its name is a rearrangement of the letters in the word “denim.” The company developed early wash finishes such as One Wash and Old Wash, and its own history credits it with developing stonewash in the 1980s. Its Made in Japan jeans use selvedge denim from the Nihon Menpu and Kaihara mills, woven on old-style shuttle looms and finished at Edwin’s own factory in Japan.
