Okayama Denim Denim
Okayama Denim grew out of the Okayama Denim Project, which Merv Sethi began in 2011 to raise money for the Japanese Red Cross after the Great East Japan Earthquake. The company is based in Tokyo and operates entirely from Japan as an online retailer of Japanese selvedge denim, and it was shipping to more than 70 countries by 2019. Its jeans are collaborations with Japanese makers, including Pure Blue Japan, Japan Blue, Samurai, Studio D’Artisan, Momotaro, and Big John, often in fabrics made exclusively for the store, such as the “Luxe” selvedge woven by Nihon Menpu in Ibara.
