About Black Sign
Black Sign is a Nagoya-based label founded by Takanori Okamoto, a vintage collector who also ran the city’s Mom Pop Shop. The brand reinterprets American and European workwear, military, and civilian dress from the Victorian era through the 1950s, often in a largely black palette and with period construction methods. Its denim includes 14oz Japanese selvedge jeans made in Japan, along with waist overalls named for 1920s designs. Black Sign releases two collections a year and sells through its Main Lodge flagship in Nagoya and specialist stockists.
