About Rick Owens

Founded in Los Angeles in 1994, Rick Owens began as its designer’s fashion line, operated from a store on Hollywood Boulevard. Owens, born in Porterville, California, moved to Paris with his partner Michèle Lamy in 2003. His DRKSHDW line, introduced in 2005, replaced SLAB, an earlier line of basic garments, and the label is known for its draping and bias-cut patterning. Its catalog jeans include DRKSHDW models made in Japan for Self Edge from selvedge denim woven in Okayama on vintage Sakamoto looms.
